A Year Later

It's hard to believe that I moved to Greenville a year ago this week! I never could have imagined everything this past year would hold. Starting a new job and then quitting, getting engaged and then married, papa passing away, and getting to be the nanny for the best kids in Greenville.

I stood in front of my door 52 weeks ago and tried to hold back my excitement of moving into my first apartment alone! My little one bedroom apartment has had quite the bit of friends join me in the past year, along with Tipsy making it her home with me too. Stu moved to Greenville in September and moved in with me, but the only thing that he was able to bring with him were clothes and shoes :) We have made this little house our home for the past year and I am definitely going to miss it when we move out and find a house of our own! (especially the stray cats that I feed daily!)

I purchased this huge wine glass shortly after I moved here, and I thought it was be a great center piece on the kitchen table with a fish in it! ... well unfortunatley, Tipsy likes being an only child, and Johnson the Beta fish was only with us until August. Clearly I found other uses for the wine glass though.

I started at Clear Channel Media as a sales rep for the radio stations up here a year ago, and now i just told my second job in a year goodbye today! I loved the thought of meeting famous singers, recording commercials, and working with business owners in the area, but in the end, it was just too much for this little country girl.  i stayed with Clear Channel until January, and then quit to nanny for a family instead. And since I've been with them, I was introduced to my newest business venture, Rodan & Fields. Needless to say, my business cards have changed a bit!

I went from sitting at my desk taking selfies, to sitting with a baby taking selfies :)  The past 5 months with this little cutie and her brother have been the best! These two have taught me that I may not be ready to have a baby tomorrow, but I am ready to be a mom one day!  I have been so lucky to have been welcomed into their family with open arms and to have a found a best friend in their mom!

Unfortunatley, 6 months ago, I had to say goodbye to my grandpa.  I am so glad that he was able to come visit me in the apartment before he lost the feelings in his legs.

It was a tough 19 months for our family to go through with him battling a brain tumor that turned cancerous, but we have to praise God that he never lost his actual brain. He knew who we were until the last moment he was with us.  He found out he had the tumor 3 weeks before my college graduation so he wasn't able to attend, and it broke my heart when he passed away, that he wasn't going to see me walk down the isle.  I am lucky though to have part of him with me everyday, since I was able to give Stuart his wedding band.

I have met some pretty cool people in the past year including Danny Ford, Charlie Worsham, Brothers Osborn, Darius Rucker, Danielle Bradbery, & Scotty McCeery!

Of course I love a good rap song, and if it includes a fun mix, I am all on it! I loved the family that made the  Christmas Jammies video this past December, so I had to make my own! I posted it on facebook just a few months ago and it surprisingly had a ton of likes!

And don't forget I surprised Stu at our wedding reception by serenading him with a rap!

Speaking of our wedding, I can not believe we have been married two months today!  10 months ago, Stu proposed, and then 8 months later, we got married!  Living up here away from everyone was a bit of a struggle at some points during the engagement while we were trying to plan all the details, but in the end, our day was PERFECT!

As I sit down tonight with my glass of red wine and blog about all these memories, there are so many that I have left out. It is so true that the older you get, the faster time flies. At times during the past year, I know I have missed opportunities, but made the best of my time. There isn't a certain thing that I can put my finger on and say that I would go back and change.  I absolutely LOVE Greenville, and we are excited to begin out lives as Mr. & Mrs. Yarborough here!

My last name, my taste in wine, and my hair have changed drastically in the past 52 weeks, but I still feel like the same small town girl in a big world that started this blog a year ago!!
