Halloween in the office

Happy Halloween from Clear Channel Greenville!
This morning we had a staff meeting and a huge breakfast! Most of the office staff dressed up and there was a contest. First, second and third places were given out and the winner got $100 cash!! Bob, our IT guy, won 1st place and he deserved it! He had an entire presentation planned out that popped up by itself on the main screen and it introduced him into the room :) Second please was Jen and Abbie, our sales coordinators. They dressed up as Pac Man and the ghost. Third place went to Megan in promotions for dressing up like Miley from the VMAs. My favorite was Deanna dressing up like Princess Kate and she even had baby George!

I am excited for trick or treaters tonight since this is only my second time EVER getting to give our candy! This is what Tipsy and I will be wearing for the kids that come by :)

Woman Crush Wednesday

Every day on Instagram, people make up some new hashtag and reason to post pictures. Man Crush Monday, Transformation Tuesday, Woman Cruch Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Flashback Friday. I usually do the #throwbackthursday and post old funny pictures, but I don't find myself posting other pictures for every other day of the week.

While Stu and I were at Ma and Papa's house this weekend, we worked on our Save the Dates for our wedding coming up in April. Ma brought out some old pictures of her and Papa's wedding and their next couple years together. She told us the story of how they knew each other growing up because Papa's Dad stayed with Ma's parents growing up. I couldn't believe everything that she was telling us over basically a 50 year span. Ma and Papa actually celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past September.

Hearing stories from my grandma makes me wish that I could see her when she was younger. After the movie The Help came out, she told us stories about their "help" who used to come over everyday and do things around the house for Ma's family. Ma even pulled out an old picture of herself when she was 16 posing with her. She said that they didn't refer to her as a slave or as their help. She was one of Mamie's close friends who just happen to work for them, so they just called her Aunt. I made a copy of that picture and put it in an old frame I got from a thrift store. I glued one of my great grandma's broaches on it with a big ribbon, and it looks great!

The first picture is of Ma and Papa after they got engaged. They were only 17 and 18 years old. Papa had already joined the air force and been away for 9 months. The second picture is Ma and Papa on their first anniversary. The third picture is only a couple days later. You can see her pregnant belly better in this one! It was baby girl #1, Alice Ann! The fourth picture is Ma holding baby girl #2, Sandra Delaine, with Aunt Allie holding her hand. The last picture is of my mom and Aunt Allie once they are a little bit older. Ma was pregnant with baby girl #3, Deborah Jane, by this point!

New App - Bitstrip Comics

I keep seeing these cartoons strips on facebook that look very similar to my friends posting them. I clicked on one of them and saw that other people has posted and asked what it is. Turns out that there a new app called Bitstrip. You can litterally make a cartoon that looks like you and and your friends and then it makes comics with them in it. So far I have only made myself and Stu. I hope that you can make pets too :)

Here is one of the comics that came up last night and it reminded me of a picture that Stu and I had taken about a year ago!

Starbucks Regulars

Starbucks has become a weekly habit for me. Yes, I realize that I am trying to pay for a wedding and $5 coffees SHOULD NOT be in my budget, but sometimes I just can't help it! Stu doesn't drink coffee, and we do not have a coffee pot in our house yet. The one at work grows mold daily, and one day last week they closed it down because there were ants found in people's coffee.

While in line at Starbucks after my 2pm meeting, I started to look around at the number of people there with their pjs on and lap tops open. Starbucks was anything but fast today so I really started wondering what these people do with their lives. I realized I was a little jealous of the careless lifestyles and wondered if they had full time jobs. I found myself wishing that I could be the one sitting there in my pjs drinking coffee and eating cheesecake brownies all day.

I usually talk to people around me while I wait in line and I have come to a conclusion about who and what these people do! I met a lawyer a few weeks ago who was from Asheville and just in Greenville for the day. He had a huge pile of papers with him stacked up on the table in front of him that he had to go through and initial them all. There was a stay at home mom behind me in line last week who had just dropped her kids off at school and said she was "off work" till 2:30pm. There are always plenty of students working on something, most likely facebook! I often see a small group of people with bibles, so I am assuming a bible study is going on (not sure id ever choose .

Since I don't plan on changing my profession to any of those, I guess I'll just have to day dream about my dream job allowing me to hang out at coffee shops all day! #MaybeOneDay

Transformation Tuesday

I am in the process of making a Shutterfly photo guestbook for our wedding and I came across some old pictures that I have of the two of us. One of the pages has spots for the bride & the groom through the years. I am having a hard time choosing what pictures to use because there are only 6 spots, and I have so many pictures to pick from! Here are some of the ones that I have used so far....

Sneak Peak of Engagement Pictures

We love love love our photographer, Jessi Nichols. She is a 2012 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Marketing. She recently started her career as a full time photographer and lives in the upstate with her hubby! Jessi was referred to us from a mutual friend shortly after we got engaged. I reached out to her to get some info, and I knew right from the beginning that we wanted her!! You can see how awesome her work is by looking at her website below.

Halloween Ready!

I love decorating for holidays, but I have never had my own place to actually decorate before. It has always been a house or apartment shared with roommates or mom's house. Our apartment complex decoarted for Halloween at the end of September by hanging spider webs and ghost all outfront in their trees, so you can imagine my excitment everytime I passed by the office. I finally decided yesterday that I would go get some items together and decorate the outside of our place :) I ended up finding all this great stuff at Dollar Tree and got out under $20 for everything! We have a single mom with two boys that lives next door to us, and she even said that I could decorate her door too if I wanted!

We never had any trick or treatrs' growing up becuase we live back in the sticks. I hope that some of the kids in our apartment complex will come by because I already have the candy ready too :)

Wedding Madness!

Everyone always tells me that Stu and I go to too many weddings!! Who has ever heard of such?! This is the time in our lives that all of our friends are finding their special someone and tying the knot :) After unpacking a few boxes the past couple nights, I came across a bag full of koozies that Stu had kept over the past few years. I dumped them all out and ended up finding a ridiculous amount of them were from weddings! I posted this picture online of just HIS collection of wedding koozies. It was crazy to me how many there really were! I became curious to how many weddings we had been to together, so I went back on Facebook and tried to find old pictures of us from our friends and families wedding days. We have been together since January of 2012, and have been to at least 13 weddings as a couple! Those are only the ones that I could find pictures of. Not to mention there are at least 5 I can think of that we couldn't make it to, and we have, or others that we went to alone. We can only hope that we have as much support and love from all our family and friends going into our future together!

Uptown Art Uncorked

I absolutely love the idea of these new art classes popping up every where! You pay $25-$40 dollars, the place supplies you with your canvas, paint, brushes, smock, and teacher to show you how to paint your own master piece. I went to one by my self when I first moved up to Greenville, and had a blast! I talked Stuart into going with me last night because it was a Clemson painting.
There were plenty of men at the last class I went to, so I assumed there would be at least a couple more at this one since it wasn't such a girly painting... well of course I was wrong! He was the only guy in the class last night and he was so embarrassed! He did a great job though and we had a lot of fun painting together. I believe that we are such a strong couple because we enjoy doing things together. I really love painting and crafting, and he will help me or go to things like this with me! Of course, he is the biggest Clemson fan, and I love going to games and cheering on the tigers right along side of him :)

It's Official!!

Stu and I were extremely to announce that we have finally set our date and booked a venue! After what feels like a looooong two months of being engaged, one venue cancellation, and asking 10 bridesmaids to stand by my side, we have set the date for April 5th, 2014 at Sleepy Hollow in Clemson, SC! As of last week, we are getting married in 6 months!!!! We have a lot of planning to do and people to tell. We are so thank full for what everyone has done of us so far, and so excited for our future together as The Yarborough's :)
