Woman Crush Wednesday

Every day on Instagram, people make up some new hashtag and reason to post pictures. Man Crush Monday, Transformation Tuesday, Woman Cruch Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Flashback Friday. I usually do the #throwbackthursday and post old funny pictures, but I don't find myself posting other pictures for every other day of the week.

While Stu and I were at Ma and Papa's house this weekend, we worked on our Save the Dates for our wedding coming up in April. Ma brought out some old pictures of her and Papa's wedding and their next couple years together. She told us the story of how they knew each other growing up because Papa's Dad stayed with Ma's parents growing up. I couldn't believe everything that she was telling us over basically a 50 year span. Ma and Papa actually celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past September.

Hearing stories from my grandma makes me wish that I could see her when she was younger. After the movie The Help came out, she told us stories about their "help" who used to come over everyday and do things around the house for Ma's family. Ma even pulled out an old picture of herself when she was 16 posing with her. She said that they didn't refer to her as a slave or as their help. She was one of Mamie's close friends who just happen to work for them, so they just called her Aunt. I made a copy of that picture and put it in an old frame I got from a thrift store. I glued one of my great grandma's broaches on it with a big ribbon, and it looks great!

The first picture is of Ma and Papa after they got engaged. They were only 17 and 18 years old. Papa had already joined the air force and been away for 9 months. The second picture is Ma and Papa on their first anniversary. The third picture is only a couple days later. You can see her pregnant belly better in this one! It was baby girl #1, Alice Ann! The fourth picture is Ma holding baby girl #2, Sandra Delaine, with Aunt Allie holding her hand. The last picture is of my mom and Aunt Allie once they are a little bit older. Ma was pregnant with baby girl #3, Deborah Jane, by this point!
